I can say now, this was the BEST concert I have ever attended. I'll even admit that it was even better then Dir En Grey...and that is saying alot. I am actually willing to write down everything that occurred...this will be a long post! (took me a day to write it up entirely) It was mighty cold outside, and Joi and I ended up spending three or four hours in the freezing cold rain which...I must say was very worth it. We saw Amanda and Brian walk past us but it took a few seconds to register because they are kinda hard to recognize with normal clothes and without face makeup. But as I watched them walk by I was like "Heyyyyy....*points* Amanda!" ^^; Oh, and what was fantastic about this concert was that it was set up like...an ENTIRE one piece act. Like...a circus? They had an announcer, and the opening act, and of course the main act but it just seemed to flow so well together. And. I didn't have a panic attack!! OMGZ! I was all good...I mean...by the end I felt dehydrated, but I was still good. In the very very front at the barricades...in the center. *happy sigh* The Host This man was fucking incredible. He had this...crazy lookin' jew fro and he just was uber neat. He was quite humorous and entertaining and even HE had an act. It was this insane...techno/flute/hermonica/microphone manipulation that ended up sounding...like a gypsy circus on acid. Ahhh! It was so cool >.< It was so unique and! He did a song with Brian on drums....that was neat. It was kinda like a teaser though...I wanted to see more Brian ;__; The Opening Band: The Red Paintings Now...holy fuck. This show was just...BIZARRE! I know believe that all Australians are crazed. Honestly, I was just blown away with as much STUFF that was going on. Okay...the music goes down low...people are setting up canvas in the back and a projector screen comes on. A horrifying Japanese flick is playing (random gore shots…quite disturbing). We're waiting for the band to come out (a little robots is freakin out too on stage)…then suddenly these two…alien…wacked out people(?) are in full on body paint and in their skivvies…the chick had only tape covering her nipples and she only had a small pair of undies (she was a full figured girl too o.o) and the guy had on purely tight shorty shorts. They began…battling with a light saber or something UNTIL this geisha girl came along and ended their little fight. The two go on either side, another geisha girl comes out on stage and they both grab a guitar. Then the lead vocalist comes out, Trash, and the drummer come out on stage and that is when more madness ensues. I swear I thought I was going to go into epileptic shock the way the light were going x.x It was insane!! And…there was just so much going on. The fucked up Japanese film, the two alien people getting painted on the sides, someone painting on the canvas in the background, Trash dancing like a mad man… It was so amazing XD They sounded fantastic and I was really surprised how much I enjoyed them. At the end of their act…was fucking hilarious too. They played "Eye of the Tiger" and this guy from their crew starting stripping (his nipples were pierced!!) doing this pelvic thrusting dance. Then Brian came out in Amanda's frilly undies and sports bra and started dancing too!! XD Oh my god…I can't even explain it…it was just too funny. The whole reason for this was so that they pierced nipple guy could get a painting from the Red Paintings. It was great =D The Dresden Dolls *happy sigh* Oh, there is SO much I could say about their performance… They began by throwing flowers out to the audience and both went to there places. They began with songs from their first CD, Miss Me and Gravity in which Burlesque dancers came out, passing around their flask to each other n.n They had Burlesque dancers in quite a few of their songs…those two girls were adorable ^.^ They did this…really odd thing for Mandy goes to Med school by having their fronts packed (to appear preggers of course) and in which they…took little mallets to their stomachs as if….well, ya know. After that, they turned towards the audience, unbuttoned a bit of their front, pulled out a baby doll arm and leg which they threw out to the audience. What was a little bit sick was after that they threw out…candy from their…tummies ^^; Still, I found that quite humorous <3 Anyway, they did sets from their second CD and the Lonely Organist Rapes Page. (my order may be a little off) Afterwards, Brian played guitar while Amanda sung this German song…that was rather depressing. About a Sailor I believe? She was swinging her beer all over the place and spilled some on the crowd…including me ^^; Yay beer stains ^( n n)^ It was really quite emotional and she did a fabulous job…she and Brian are SO interactive with the audience, it made me so happy ^.^ Amanda did more music from the second CD. When she did Dirty Business, the keyboard suddenly became unplugged and she freaked out! "Ah! I feel naked!" "This…hasn't happened before." It was amusing, and so they decided to do another guitar song because Amanda wanted the crew to make sure that it didn't die on her again. Brian walked over to the keyboard though, and began proving to Amanda that she was being silly as he banged on the keys and looked at her with this incredulous expression. During the song they played, Amanda decided to fall into her audience. Yes, I got to help (a lil ^.^) Amanda Palmer back on stage *squees* XD So, the show continued on without anymore instrument malfunctions or her coming into the crowd. Although, during the Jeep Song, they brought a few people from the audience to sing the background music to it. I thought that was cute ^^; Of course, I was unwilling to go up there, but it was nice to see others doing it. Everyone up on stage were short people. I noticed, I laughed. ^^; They also did the song Mad World ( I think that's from Donnie Darko, right?) with the Red Paintings and that was…oh so touching. They all played astounding. Sing was there last song in which everyone took a dramatic bow…and then THE ENCORE! Holy hell, that was intense. They did Half Jack and Girl Anachronism. After that, They came towards the end of the audience. I touched Brian's hand <3 Whoo!! =^.^= Then…then I was just left in awe. It was just an incredible show, and I am so very glad that I attended. (> . .)> I probably missed some things, but yeah. I'll get pictures from Joi too for those interested. Ja mata <3 |
